The  18th annual conference of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight-INDIA,  was held at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab on 6 and 7th July 2024.  

Eye hospitals from across the country and VISION 2020 INDIA’s 170 member hospitals came together along with public health research institutions and international NGOs working in eye health in India and the region. The conference was highly successful on the mutual sharing of knowledge and good practices in eye health.  The scientific program and the deliberations was formulated as road map for achieving our mission of universal eye health, 2030 In Sight and WHO Integrated People centred Eye Care with due consideration to the lessons learned over the last two decades. 

The conference allowed the session for presentation and discussion on IAPB sectoral strategy 2030 Insight – Integrated people Centred Eye Care.  IAPB regional chair Dr Rohit Khanna as keynote speaker of the session presented the IAPB three-pillar strategy as Eye need to be further 1. Elevate – making eye health as social economic case and part and parcel of SDG goals, 2. Integrate into the mainstream health system and 3. Activate eye health for both sides to consumers for demanding and politicians for increased priority and resource mobilisation. IAPB- SEA regional head Yuddha Sapkota presented the IAPB plan of action in the region translating global resolutions on eye health and the IAPB sector strategy into national eye health policy and plan with a focus on country strategy and progress. 

The conference was  named as Vsion 2020 to 2030 – In Sight and path ahead.
