The Instituto Internacional de la Visión (INVIS)

The Instituto Internacional de la Visión (INVIS), a private institution created in 2009, has been dedicated to providing quality eye care to those most in need in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. INVIS has been actively involved in outreach efforts and has performed more than 16,000 anterior segment surgeries.

Our main focuses are the prevention, identification, and treatment of the major causes of blindness in the region. Aiming to contribute to the elimination of avoidable blindness on Hispaniola Island, we have taught non-ophthalmic personnel in primary eye care for years. Recently, in July, we established a four-year Residency Training program in ophthalmology with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Health, and with the support of the Universidad Central del Este (UCE).
