Join IAPBThe Farabi Comprehensive Center of Excellence in Ophthalmology (an IAPB Group C member), one of the biggest ophthalmic-academic centres in Iran and the middle-east, is offering two courses in Ophthalmic Nursing. Application deadline: 31 May 2018.
OND is a 1 year course leading to a specialized diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing. In addition to technical skills in ophthalmic surgery–covering ocular trauma surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, anterior segment surgeries (ocular surface, refractive surgery, cataract and keratoplasties), glaucoma surgeries, strabismus surgeries, and oculoplasty and orbit surgeries–the student will learn about and reflect on leadership aspects of nursing applicable to an ophthalmic setting.
Infection control, safety and medical errors, patient experience, pre-op preparation and post-op care, and triage in ophthalmology are covered. Students will have clinical rounds in the ophthalmic emergency room, and varied general and subspecialty ophthalmology clinics. The programme begins from September 2018. Read more.
OORGC is a 6-month technical course in which the student is exposed to comprehensive ophthalmic surgeries covering ocular trauma surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, anterior segment surgeries (ocular surface, refractive surgery, cataract and keratoplasties), glaucoma surgeries, strabismus surgeries, and oculoplasty and orbit surgeries, in dedicated and highly specialized operating rooms (ORs). Students will have 1-month rounds in the six ORs of the center.
The student is interactively mentored by at least one subspecialist faculty surgeon and be instructed by at least one experienced ophthalmic operating room nurse during the course and in each OR.
He/She will develop advanced skills and orientation over ophthalmic surgical routines (as scrub and circular nurses), devices and maintenance issues. Read more.
