Focus On Glaucoma Webinar: China and West Pacific

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]As part of our activities to mark World Glaucoma Week 2019, IAPB presents four webinars to cover the regions of North America, Africa, South East Asia and China/West Pacific for members and partnering organisations to take part in during 10-16 March 2018.

The China and West Pacific Webinar will discuss the magnitude of glaucoma prevalence in the region, and screening strategies. They will discuss the management of glaucoma in rural china, along with glaucoma management strategies rooted in tertiary centres.  The details of the webinar are as follows:

In 2015, nearly 3 million people were blind due to glaucoma, and 4 million had moderate to severe vision impairment. Estimates suggest that nearly 80 million people will be living with some form of glaucoma by 2020.

Mingguang He

Prof Mingguang He is the Professor of Ophthalmic Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne. Professor He is a global expert in vision-related clinical and epidemiologic research. He led several important population-based studies in China, including the first glaucoma survey and a large-scale twin study in China.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Nathan Congdon

Prof Nathan Congdon, MD, MPH, is Ulverscroft Chair of Global Eye Health at Queen’s University Belfast and Director of Research for Orbis International, helping also to shape the organization’s global strategic approach to diabetic eye disease and glaucoma. Prof Congdon is a Visiting Professor at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center and was based in China for nearly ten years until 2015.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
