Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center

Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre consists of four components: the Eye Hospital, the Ophthalmologic Research Institute (granted status as China’s unique State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology (SKLO) by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2006), the Division of Preventative Ophthalmology (DPO) and the optic service division.

ZOC offers a full spectrum of tertiary subspecialty care for common and more complicated eye diseases with about 200 consultant ophthalmologists. The annual clinic volume at ZOC is 880,000 patients and there were over 70,000 eye surgeries performed at the center in 2017. It is the leading institution for eye research in both laboratory and epidemiologic areas in China.
