Vacancy: Inclusive Eye Health Director

CBM Global is looking for an Inclusive Eye Health Director.

Use your expertise and experience in Inclusive Eye Health to help shape the vital work and future development of CBM Global Disability Inclusion: a dynamic, newly-formed INGO working alongside people with disabilities in the world’s poorest places to fight poverty and exclusion and transform lives.

Drawing on over 100 years’ experience and driven by Christian values, CBM Global works with the most marginalised in society to:

• break the cycle of poverty and disability;
• treat and prevent conditions that lead to disability; and
• build inclusive communities where everyone can enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

They work in over 20 countries, investing in long-term, authentic partnerships with the Disability Movement and multiplying our impact by delivering a combination of inclusive community-based programmes, advocacy for national and global policy change and inclusion advice to other organisations.

They are ambitious to see transformative and systemic change. One in seven people worldwide live with a disability and 80% of these people live in the Global South, where disability is strongly stigmatised and people are excluded and marginalised in profound ways. They are seeking an Inclusive Eye Health (IEH) Director who will lead CBM Global’s work in IEH, including Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), and take an integrated approach to linking their IEH activities with related work in Disability Inclusive Community Development, Community Mental Health and Humanitarian Action.

You will be passionate about effective change for and alongside people with disabilities and their communities. You will have a strong track record in public health ophthalmology and/or IEH or NTD programming, and at least 5-10 years working experience in low and middle income countries. You will have exceptional relational, interpersonal and networking skills, honed within relevant global and continental networks; experience of working with key donors and stakeholders; relevant programme management experience and an understanding of disability-inclusive approaches.
