Join a powerful, unprecedented alliance for better eye health for all.
Join IAPBA big welcome to all our new members who joined in 2023. A record number of 30 organisations spanning across 18 countries have demonstrated their commitment to our collective mission of ending avoidable sight loss and driving eye health awareness around the world. It has been a pleasure to connect and work with you throughout this year.
It was wonderful to meet with so many of our members at our global event 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE at Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) in June. There were so many interactive and inspiring discussions across different topics, all focusing on how we can work together to achieve our goals of making eye care services available to everyone everywhere. I really enjoyed seeing all the connections being made between delegates during the programme as well as during our networking reception. I do hope that as many of you as possible are able to attend our 2024 global event in Mexico City on 25-27 June, watch this space for registration details coming soon!
The IAPB team have had a very busy year hosting our own regional events and speaking at external sector events around the globe. At APAO in Kuala Lumpur in February, we organised the Western Pacific regional meeting and hosted a drinks reception where we launched the IAPB Technology for Eye Health guide which was very well received. Throughout the year we also presented at PAAO in Buenos Aires, COECSA in Mombasa, the Indonesian Ophthalmologist Association (PERDAMI) conference in Jakarta and held our first North America regional meeting on the sidelines of the Global Ophthalmology Summit in Atlanta. We were so pleased to see so many members from the region in attendance to discuss implementing 2030 In Sight at a national and international level. We look forward to continuing these conversations at our next meeting in Mexico before the global event.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s World Sight Day campaign, it was remarkable to see the different events, meetings and activities celebrating the day. It was especially amazing to see the number of members conducting vision screenings in different workplaces around the world, shining a light on the importance of good eye health for everyone, regardless of where you work. Throughout the course of World Sight Day, our social media channels were filled with photographs and videos of screenings of security guards, miners, sanitation workers, street food vendors, office workers, car factory workers, teachers and much more! We also exceeded our ambitious target of 10 million LoveYourEyes pledges in the lead up to World Sight Day, and reached over 13 million pledges, an enormous achievement that we should all be very proud of!
Next year is going to be another busy one at IAPB and there will be plenty of opportunities for members to get involved so please do get in touch with me to find out more.
