Join IAPBIn April 2025, Nepal will take center stage in the global movement for eye health. 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE! – the flagship event of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) – is coming to Kathmandu, bringing together visionaries, policymakers, advocates, and professionals from across the sector. Happening from April 30 to May 1, 2025, at The Soaltee Kathmandu, this event is being supported by key in-country partners: Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, BP Eye Foundation, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, and Nepal Eye Hospital.
As we reach a critical halfway point in the 2030 in Sight Strategy and WHO’s Integrated People Centred Eye Care target for 2030, Nepal provides a compelling backdrop. The region has been at the forefront of groundbreaking eye care models, from community-driven outreach to innovative hospital networks that have inspired global strategies. However, due to rapid urbanization, aging populations, and changing lifestyles the demand for eye health services have increased in our region.
Given a significant burden of blindness and vision impairment in South-East Asia, this event will be a key moment to accelerate commitments, drive policy action, and strengthen collaborations. To discuss the regional action plans and priorities, and pave a collective way forward, the SEA Regional Meeting will be held at on the 29th April. This meeting will bring together the IAPB country chairs, representatives from the government agencies, and IAPB member organizations working on eye health programs from all countries in the region. The meeting will discuss policies and interventions to accelerate eye health in SEA.
The event will also offer a dynamic platform for stakeholders to connect, learn, and influence the direction of eye health ahead of the Global Summit for Eye Health in 2026.
The event will feature several core programme streams:
