Join a powerful, unprecedented alliance for better eye health for all.
Join IAPBAs the dust settles on what has been one of the most successful IAPB events in recent years, I am grateful for the experience in Mexico City. Hosting 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE in Latin America was not only a milestone but also a testament to the region’s leadership in the sector.
The lineup of nearly 200 speakers and panelists, including figures such as Eduardo Avila Sanchez, Paralympian, Kirk Humphrey, Minister of People and Elder Affairs for Barbados, Dr. Epsy Campbell, former Vice President of Costa Rica, Dr. María Martina Pérez-Rendón, Minister of Health for the Province of Queretaro and Ambassador Webson, Co-chair of the UN Friends of Vision, provided insights and diverse perspectives.
Listening to our speakers, I was reminded of the mission we all share—a world where preventable blindness is eliminated, and every individual enjoys accessible, affordable and available eye care.
In Mexico, we saw how the 2030 In Sight strategy is being put into practice around the world. Our focus in the years to come will continue to be delivering the strategy., As Ambassador Webson said, “The key thing here is to move, what I call, from paper to people.”
I extend our thanks to event partners, changemakers, exhibitors, speakers and the hundreds of delegates who joined us in person and online. We are privileged to bring together the decision-makers, innovators and doers who make 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE such an important and impactful event.
I also particularly want to thank Dr. Valeria Sanchez Huerta, CEO of APEC, and the team at APEC for their support and our strategic event partner, the Fred Hollows Foundation, who helped make this event a great success.
Now that we are back at our desks, I hope that the momentum built by 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE carries into your daily work. As Minister Humphrey shared, “2030 is a day away. We cannot underestimate the urgency of this moment. We cannot afford to waste it.”
Gracias!
