The Changemakers

Changemakers driving progress in eye health need more than recognition; they need sustained partnerships that amplify their impact. While events and campaigns indeed shine a spotlight on their work and the progress the eye health sector is making, true progress comes from long-term collaboration that fosters innovation, funding stability and shared learning.

2030 IN SIGHT LIVE Nepal and our Changemakers are prime examples of such a collaboration, demonstrating how strong partnerships drive tangible progress towards universal access to eye health.

Sustainable Partnerships need co-investment, where stakeholders of all types – governments, NGOs and private sector leaders – join forces to fund and develop long-term eye care initiatives. The Changemakers are not just supporting 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE Nepal, they are supporting a lasting infrastructure to achieve universal eye health. The Chen Yet-Sen Family Foundation set this tone when they announced their partnership at 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE Mexico. You can hear from Seva Foundation’s Brad Wong in Nepal, talking about Invest in Sight and the importance of investing in eye health. Additionally, Cure Blindness Project’s K-T Overbey will speak on ways to get involved in expanding access to eye care in the Towards the Global Summit for Eye Health session.

KT Overbey speaking at 2030 IN SIGHT LIVESuch partnerships thrive on capacity-building collaborations, where organisations invest in leadership development and knowledge sharing networks. The Changemakers exemplify this by making significant contributions to the event in Nepal. Sharing their knowledge to develop others in Nepal are CooperVision’s Stuart Cockerill, who will contribute to the Refractive Error Roundtable and Roche’s Iris Van den Brande, who will speak in the Insights for Impact: Elevating Lived Experience in Eye Care session.

Lastly, policy integration is key to sustainable partnerships, and support from Changemakers is crucial in transforming policies into action at a global and local level. To amplify the sector’s skillset, CBM’s Joyce Koech will be lending her skills as an experienced advocacy practitioner in the Masterclass: Advocacy & Influencing session in Nepal. The Fred Hollows Foundation’s Louisa Syrett will be lending her skills in Advocacy to discuss Eye Health & Sustainable Development Goals. All of these efforts support the transformation of temporary solutions into systemic change.

Fittingly, one of our changemakers, National Vision’s Jacki Grove, will discuss Multisector Partnerships for Eye Health at 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE Nepal.
