We welcome our first member in Nicaragua led by Dr. Abraham Delgado Ophthalmologist and his family, Abraham Delgado Jr. Optometrist and Economist and Gloria Delgado Administrator of the clinic, whose mission is “To contribute to reducing the rates of avoidable and reversible blindness in the country, through social projects and high-quality surgical procedures at affordable prices and thus contribute to improving the quality of life of people and their families in an inclusive way” and this is how it has served more than 56,000 people since 2012 ,5,600 people have undergone eye surgery or a procedure to restore vision and 3,933 of those have undergone cataract surgery.
Dr. Delgado dreamed of the healthy eye clinic and foundation when he observed that only people with high income could have access to quality eye services. Since then, its objective has been to be able to provide surgeries to rural populations and that is how it has remained active until today, in the words of Doctor Delgado “There is no greater satisfaction than restoring the vision of these patients that I have met in their humble homes and regions”.
