Established in 2000, CSF Global (formerly the Child Sight Foundation), works to establish a rights-based inclusive society for children with disability in developing countries throughout the world.
We work with children with disabilities, their families, community members, service providers, program planners and governments to ensure that no child is disabled from either preventable or treatable causes (biological and social) and that all children with disabilities and their families have access to high quality evidence-based services and support.
We are a pioneering organisation in conducting research into childhood disability in developing countries and are reputed for our development of the Key informant method, a community mobilisation program to enable cost-efficient identification, diagnosis and treatment/ service referrals for children with disability living in hard to reach, low-resourced locations. We produce strong evidence to guide program planners on the control of childhood disability, and develop internationally endorsed manuals and guidelines to inform practice in this area.
As an independent not-for-profit organisation we believe that every child has the right to high quality health, rehabilitation, education, and social inclusion services. Informed by our research we provide numerous services including detection and referral of children with disability for surgery and treatment, primary eye care, dissemination of assistive devices, intensive rehabilitation and therapy, family self-help groups, inclusive education, advocacy and awareness raising. Our services are targeted to marginalised communities with specific attention given to girls with disability and children impacted by poverty living in regional and rural areas of Bangladesh.
Our work is guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability and we follow VISION 2020 strategies to control priority eye diseases in children particularly childhood cataract and nutritional blindness, to enhance infrastructure and technology and to develop human resources.
