PBMA’s H V Desai Eye Hospital

The PBMA’s H. V. Desai Eye Hospital, is the project of – The Poona Blind Men’s Association (PBMA), a charitable organization, working for socio-economic rehabilitation of the blind since 1960.

PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, based at Pune, Maharashtra, is committed to provide eye care, with quality and equity, without discrimination between free and paying patients, since the year 2000.

The catchment area of the hospital is 6 districts of Maharashtra. It is a comprehensive eye care institute, with reach out, postgraduate and paramedical education facilities along with a strong research component.

PBMA’s H. V. Desai Eye Hospital, Pune is a ninety-five bedded hospital and has an expertise of performing High Quality 38,000 Eye surgeries annually. Since commencement of the project, it has examined 57.18 lakhs patients in OPD and performed around 6.41 lakhs eye surgeries, of which 70% are Free. The Hospital has DNB along with DOMS and BSc Optometry education, it is a nodal training centre recognised by Central Government for training of Eye Surgeons. Hospitals Research wing has published many papers in various national and international journals.

The hospital has excellence in service delivery and has a team of experienced expert eye surgeons performing Topical, Toric, and Multifocal Phaco surgery with foldable lenses, squint correction, glaucoma, keratoplasty, Vitrectomy and Oculoplasty, Lasik surgery. It also performs various laser procedures for medical retina and glaucoma. It has special services for Paediatric Eye Care & ROP Management for premature babies. Our Ophthalmologists are most experienced and use ultra-modern technology equipments.

This institute is recognized as a leader in community eye care in Western India. While the institute strongly advocates Vision 2020 strategies, the national and international community also appreciates its research studies. The institute has collaboration with various national and international organizations.
