Saudi Society of Optometry (SSO) was established in 2007 under the umbrella of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (Resolution No. 8/A/28), the Saudi Society of Optometry (SSO) is a leading scientific organization dedicated to advancing the field of optometry and vision science in Saudi Arabia. As the primary provider of professional development and continuing education for eye care professionals, the SSO plays a pivotal role in elevating clinical standards, enhancing regulatory frameworks, and raising awareness of eye health issues.

In active partnership with national and international organizations—including membership in the World Council of Optometry (WCO)—the SSO works to broaden access to quality eye care. It actively collaborates with nonprofit organizations to expand outreach, increase access to essential vision services, and engage in community-based initiatives that emphasize prevention and early intervention. Through public awareness campaigns, the SSO highlights the critical role of optometry in preserving vision and improving overall ocular health.
