Saudi Society of Optometry

Saudi Society of Optometry (SSO) was founded in 2007, a scientific society in the field of optometry and vision science. The Saudi Society of Optometry is under the umbrella of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (Resolution No. 8/A/28).

The SSO has the vision of promoting the delivery of quality eye and vision care to Saudis through the practice of optometry and in providing continuous education and training services to the eye care professionals. also, SSO is a active Member of the WCO.

Mission:

• To create a comprehensive scientific and educational platform enabling optometrists to gain knowledge and contribute effectively
• To foster health research in eye care that benefits the community and professionals in the field.
• To advance professional development for a brighter future of the optometry profession in Saudi Arabia.
• To equip optometrists with the capability to provide primary eye health care and combat blindness.
• To improve regulatory aspects in the optometry sector and form productive collaborations with the private sector.
• To enhance the financial resources of the association, while adopting best governance and institutional practices.
• To promote societal engagement, health education, and improve the public perception of the optometry profession.
