University of Montreal – Optometry School

L’École d’optométrie de l’Université de Montréal (EOUM) founded in 1910 is the only French-speaking institution to award a Doctor of Optometry degree (OD) in the world. EOUM’s mission revolves around three axes: (1) Teaching, offering quality education for future and existing optometrists at doctoral and post-doctoral levels, ensuring optimal inter-professional primary eye care practice. This includes also continuous education, in French and English, at the international level. (2) Research, basic and clinical, contributing to knowledge and innovation. EOUM offers MS and PHD programs in vision science, focusing on all aspects related to vision and visual functiton (3) Outreach, via community and international participation, pursuing access to care for vulnerable underserved populations locally and globally.
