Join IAPBAmeer Abou Adela is an optometrist with nine years of experience and a strong dedication to advancing public health and optometry. He holds a BS in Optics & Optometry from the American University of Science and Technology (AUST), an MBA from Sagesse University, and is pursuing a PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
Ameer is the Visionary Founder and President of Vision Care Association (VCA) / VOSH International Lebanon Chapter, he has spearheaded six programs focused on public health, legislation, research, awareness, environmental sustainability, and education. Under his leadership, VCA has supported over 16,000 individuals by providing comprehensive eye health services, including screenings, spectacles, contact lenses, eye drops, eye vitamins, ocular surgeries, and prostheses.
Ameer has built alliances across Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia to prevent blindness, even amid regional instability. Notably, he united optometry leaders during Saudi Arabia’s 2024 Optometry Conference, facilitating vital in-person collaboration.
His clinical experience includes serving as Chief Optometrist at the Lebanese American University Medical Center (LAUMC) and Ophthalmic Photographer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). Ameer is an international member of the American Optometric Association and an advocate for advancing optometry in the MENA region.
He chairs the Public Health and Media & PR Committees of the Eastern Mediterranean Council of Optometry (EMCO) and is a mentor in the Optometry Program of Advocacy & Leadership (OPAL), a collaboration between the World Council of Optometry (WCO) and Indiana University.
Ameer’s achievements have earned him the 2023 WCO Young Leader Award in memory of Dr. Paul Berman in Australia and was recognized as the Ambassador of the Saudi Society of Optometry in 2024 in Riyadh. He represents the Eastern Mediterranean Region on the WCO Board of Directors (2024–2025).
Ameer’s dedication to Global public eye health and education continues to shape the future of optometry and supports the growth and training of colleagues across the Eastern Mediterranean region.
