Join IAPBImpaired vision and eye health have a broader impact on general health and well-being. The global DR burden is expected to remain high through 2045, disproportionately affecting countries in the Middle East and North Africa and the Western Pacific. Leveraging the recent United Nations General Assembly Resolution on Eye Health, the webinar will discuss the opportunities to elevate DR into the social, economic and/or development 2030 agenda such as the Decade for Healthy Aging, Decent Work and Economic Growth.
Aim: The session aims to discuss how an elevated and integrated approach can help combat the disease burden of DR and achieve the promise of Universal Health Care and Sustainable Development Goals.

Talking Points:
Sumrana is the Senior Global Technical Lead for Refractive Error at Sightsavers, based in Pakistan. Her work focuses on developing equitable and scalable eye health programmes in low- and middle-income countries to strengthen health and education systems, with a focus on ensuring inclusion, gender equity, and sustainable development.
Anat Loewenstein, MD, is Professor of Ophthalmology, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Sidney Fox Chair of Ophthalmology at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. Anat has many innovations under her belt, including helping to develop a novel method for early detection of macular degeneration, augmented virtual reality to replace the operating microscope as well as development of home OCT.
Mohamad is an endocrinologist and founder of the national diabetes program through the Ministry of Health, Lebanon. He was a professor at the Lebanese university and has worked for AB Johnson and Johnson and Alixia. He was also chair of disaster committee, and chair of the Middle East and North Africa region at the International Diabetes Federation.
Muhammad is the Deputy Director at the Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology, Peshawar. He is a RAAB master trainer for EMR region and has been involved in blindness surveys across Pakistan and in other EMR countries.
Sulaiman is a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
