What was the Global Assembly

(Opens in a new window) The Assembly used to be held every four years and provided a forum for people involved in the fight against avoidable blindness and visual impairment to share information and exchange ideas.

At the time they were the only event catering to the full spectrum of eye health professionals: ophthalmologists, optometrists, programme managers, representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), corporations, health professionals, as well as stakeholders from the wider international development and public health communities.

Attending a global assembly

(Opens in a new window) Delegates experienced inspiring, diverse, high-quality programmes featuring internationally recognised speakers, facilitators, and experts.

Global Assemblies were three-day programme of scientific lectures, panel discussions, symposia and courses; social events, including opening and closing ceremonies and a gala dinner; and a trade exhibition for equipment manufacturers and NGOs to showcase products and projects.
