Join a powerful, unprecedented alliance for better eye health for all.
Join IAPBIAPB established the Gender Equity Work Group to provide an important forum for raising awareness, sharing ideas and disseminating evidence on gender equity approaches.
The latest data shows that 55% of the world’s visually impaired are women. In industrialised countries this is largely because women live longer than men, but in non-industrialised settings, where cataract is responsible for most blindness, it is often because women do not get to access services with the same frequency as men.
The Gender Equity Work Group works to foster partnerships and collaboration between NGOs who are active around gender equity. The group facilitates learning and seeks to inform, and advocate for, gender equity in eye health.
Gender inequality is pervasive and entrenched in global health, including in eye health. We want to establish a baseline of gender responsiveness in IAPB, which can then be used to identify key areas for change. We are recruiting IAPB members to participate in a research project to establish this baseline, and would like to include all IAPB members in this initiative.
We ask each organisation to complete an online questionnaire that will take 5-10 minutes. The questions relate to the gender responsiveness of your organisation, including policies and practice, and the gender of your organisation’s leadership groups.
Responses will be confidential and will not be shared outside the research team without your explicit permission. We will report results in such a way that organisations will not be identifiable, unless you indicate you are happy for your responses to be linked to your organisation.
