Join a powerful, unprecedented alliance for better eye health for all.
Join IAPBIn November 2014, WHO SEARO in collaboration with IAPB SEA convened a regional meeting with representatives from the Ministries of Health of the region’s Member States and IAPB country chairs and representatives, to operationalize resolution WHA66.4 in the South-East Asia (SEA) region. The meeting concluded with a number of actions agreed by the participants in order to implement the resolution at country level through the development of national eye health plans or by updating the national health plans in line with the requirements of the resolution. To follow up on the actions agreed, the IAPB SEA has been supporting national prevention of blindness committees and/or Ministries of Health in organizing national advocacy workshops to roll out the implementation of resolution WHA66.4.
To ensure progress in implementing the resolution in the region, it is essential to provide continued sufficient technical support to SEAR countries and ensure monitoring of eye care service provision as well as periodic eye disease epidemiological data collection. It is also essential to continue monitoring eye health indicators in populations and assessing provision of eye care in order to understand trends and address emerging needs. Additionally, to share valuable experiences and lessons learnt, case studies and reports on best practices need to be prepared and disseminated.
In order to facilitate these agendas and assess the situations in implementation of resolution WHA66.4, a joint WHO SEARO/IAPB SEA jointly planning to conduct SEA Regional Meeting for MoH representatives, relevant experts, and international partners of the region from 15 to 16 December 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
