The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has announced programme and speaker details for the highly anticipated 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE event in Mexico City. The global event, taking place June 25-27, unites stakeholders across the eye health sector with a singular goal: eradicating avoidable sight loss by 2030.

“2030 IN SIGHT LIVE fosters a collaborative environment where shared knowledge, discussion and unwavering commitment can be a catalyst to eliminating avoidable blindness,” said Peter Holland, IAPB Chief Executive Officer.

Hosted jointly by IAPB and the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México, 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE presents a pivotal opportunity to accelerate progress towards universal eye health and discuss concrete actions to eliminate avoidable sight loss by 2030.

Dr Valeria Sanchez, General Director at the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México, said “We are looking forward to welcoming expert speakers from across the globe who will be sharing their knowledge with delegates. Our stellar list of speakers will be offering insights into topics like the global eye health research agenda, harnessing the power of technology, eye health and indigenous populations and many more.”

The initial speaker line-up includes a Gold Medallist Paralympian turned actor, a UN Ambassador, speakers from the World Health Organisation, economists, and eye health professionals from around the world.

Eduardo Avila Sanchez, Paralympic Gold Medallist, Actor, Influencer and 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE Keynote Speaker, said of his involvement in the event. “I am privileged to join IAPB and Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México, and all of you at 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE, because I see a world where every individual has the right to clear vision, where barriers crumble in the face of collective action. Join me at 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE, where together, we’ll shape a future where eye care is not just a privilege but a fundamental human right. Let’s redefine what’s possible, one vision at a time.”

For the first time, the entire experience will be fully bilingual, featuring simultaneous translation in Spanish and English, to ensure maximum accessibility for the 600 delegates in attendance.

Strategic partners, The Fred Hollows Foundation, alongside IAPB, will champion critical discussions on ensuring equitable access to quality eye care, strengthening eye health systems, advocacy, and awareness building. Ian Wishart, CEO, The Fred Hollows Foundation said, “For 15 years, The Foundation has proudly supported IAPB’s mission. And as a strategic partner for 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE, we are thrilled to continue our commitment to playing a key role in fostering collective action to address this global challenge.”

Also supporting the event are Changemaker partners, Abbvie, CBM, Johnson and Johnson Vision, National Vision, RestoringVision, Roche, Seva Foundation and The Vision Catalyst Fund.

Do not miss the opportunity, join IAPB, Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México and its partners in Mexico City for the only conference that is dedicated exclusively to bringing people together to find solutions to one of the world’s biggest challenges; ensuring eye health is available to all by 2030.
